Public art - Murals + Sculptures + Urban Design
Peter Day is an artist with over 30 years experience in mural painting and
public art. He has approximately 160 public projects to his credit which include murals, in ceramic, mosaic and
paint, sculptures in steel, bronze, terrazzo, timber and stone, playgrounds and community and urban design projects.
Academic qualifications include - a Diploma of Industrial Design, a Graduate Diploma in Professional Art Studies,
an M.A. in Community Art and Peter is in the process of reading for a Doctorate in Public Art.
Peter has taught and guest lectured at most Universities in NSW, Consulted and/or contracted to the 3 levels of
Government in Australia and worked with the United Nations. |

Some notable completed commissions include :
- King George V Activity Centre Mural for Sydney City Council (the
largest community mural in the Southern Hemisphere).
- 2 paintings for the Australian Permanent Mission to the United Nations
in New York
- 'Mexico y Australia a Juntos' Mural at the residence of the Australian
Ambassador to Mexico.
- 'Rixon Hill Folly' environmental sculpture, an ancient ruined
castle of mud-brick and stone and the 'Between 2 Rivers Project', for Campbelltown City Council.
- 'Swimming in Duck Creek' a 200m2 Terrazzo floor for the new entrance building of the redevelopment of the Granville Swimming Centrefor Parramatta City Council.
Awards include :
Churchill Fellowship to study public art overseas, approx. a dozen Australia Council Grants and Fellowships, various
Artist-in-Residencies and a number of Art Prizes.
